What is a Folder?

What is a Folder?

What is a Folder?

A folder is a feature in the computer system that is used for holding and organizing files and other folders. According to this definition, you can find that, a folder acts as a container that is specifically designed for holding items in it (files, other folders and even software programs).

Fortunately, all versions of Windows OS come with default folders that allow users to organize their files into different categories for easy retrieval. These default folders are Documents, Pictures, Music and Videos. In the latest versions of Windows OS, the predefined/default folders are also known as Libraries.

A folder is also known as a directory, and a folder inside another folder is known as sub-folder/sub-directory. You can store hundreds of thousands of files in a folder depending to the Hard disk’s capacity in holding data.
