What is a Windows Explorer?

The Windows Explorer is the program that helps us to navigate from one location to another when we are either viewing or organizing our personal files, folders and even the programs’ files in our computers. While we are in the explorer window we can create folders, shortcuts, and organize our daily computing activities.

Below are the procedures and tips that will help you learn how to open the explorer window and perform different activities within it on your Computer.

How to open the Windows Explorer:

  1. Right click on the start button
  2. Select Open Windows Explorer (if you’re using Windows 7) or select Explore (if you’re using windows Xp and other earlier Versions of Microsoft Windows Operating System. You will see the Windows Explorer window containing folders and other Items stored in your system.

Another way you can open Windows Explorer is:

  1. Click on the start button
  2. Select My Computer/ My Documents on the start menu. Also you can open Windows Explorer by just opening any folder/directory

To create the folder on the Windows Explorer window just Right click on the blank place inside the Windows Explorer window >Select New >Select Folder. To rename the folder in the Windows Explorer simply right your folder, select Rename, then type the name and click Enter to finish the renaming process.

How to create the folder inside another folder

  1. Open an existing folder
  2. Right click on the blank place
  3. Select new
  4. Select Folder
  5. Rename it and then hit the enter key or just click anywhere on the screen

Or

  1. Click on the file menu located on the top-left side of the Windows Explorer window
  2. Select New
  3. Select Folder
  4. Rename it. You have the folder.

You are allowed to create as many folders as you can or prefer so that all Items (Files , programs, etc.) you create and or store in your PC are well organized in the manner that it will be possible for you to find and retrieve the specific data in an easy and intuitive way.
